Camera Light Meter

An ESP32-C6-based instrument for measuring light while shooting.

01 / In development

A compact measurement tool for the camera bag

This project explores a dedicated light meter built around the ESP32-C6. The goal is a focused, practical device that helps photographers read the scene and make exposure decisions without reaching for a phone.

From electronics and firmware to enclosure and user experience, the project brings Nikitron's end-to-end product development approach into one small instrument.

03 / Project focus

Hardware with a clear job

Light measurement

A dedicated workflow for reading the available light and turning it into useful exposure guidance.

ESP32-C6 platform

The project uses the ESP32-C6 as the foundation for connected, capable embedded product development.

Built as a product

Electronics, firmware, industrial design, and usability are considered together from the first prototype.

Sleep wake: the RTC GPIO domain stays powered so the internal pull-up remains active during deep sleep. No external pull-up is required.

Timing: hold the button for 1200 ms to trigger sleep behavior; release stability is 300 ms.

05 / Development path

From first reading to field test

01

Define the measurement experience and camera workflow.

02

Prototype the electronics and embedded firmware around the ESP32-C6.

03
